The popular websites 4Chan.org, and Youtube.com, have been almost always been linked to the newly arising fads that come up in the internet. What I mean is that they're responsible for creating and expanding upon internet memes. Memes can be rather funny at times, but more often than not are very much annoying as time goes on. It might be laughable to bring a meme from before, waiting to see who gets the joke or the idea in mind.
For me, memes have become something to loathe even more than the combined communities of both Youtube.com and 4Chan.org. The over abundance of this idiocracy is very irritating and very very rarely funny anymore. New memes sprout up, old memes are reused, it's time and time again that people use that pattern.
The reason I bring it up now is because of it's obviously popular use and redundancy that seems to have been appearing as of last year up until now. 4Chan acts as the cauldron of creating something to laugh at and making jokes that few understand; this is done by linking things to something humorous. If it sticks, people will repeat the idea over till it reaches a point of becoming a trend, or a meme. This used to be something that was not only to start by yourself or with others, but to hear about from others. It was like a series of inside jokes that only 4Chan lurkers cared about or enjoyed.
Youtube has been a catalyst in the mix for making something an inside joke, and turning it into something a lot more people enjoy upon mention. It seemed like everyone could understand it now that it's been spread around via Youtube. This is where the redundancy first is cast. When everyone gets the joke, it's not an inside joke anymore. It leaves a feeling of annoyance to know that something only you and a few people know, is now something everyone knows like it's new.
It's sort of like if you heard a band in it's early stages, before it developed into a big artist that everyone knows; but then the band went on to become the top musicians and songs out there. You can say that you knew they were good before even they knew it. But it doesn't matter, because now everyone knows they're good, and your original tastes and trends are now common and not unique.
If you're typically someone who doesn't favor being unique and original, and would rather go with the flow, then I applaud you. It's difficult to have such a boring life style, but it does help when focusing on what really counts, and that's what's on the inside.
So now, when I hear about this new meme that is going to be spread, or if someone spreads an idea I expanded upon, I ignore it. It's not really fun to make an inside joke, if everyone's heard it before. Especially since Youtube has been trying really really hard lately to make their own memes and spread them about. The worst case if of course Ray William Johnson, who takes something he thinks is funny and try to make it a joke that he can use to pose upon. It's almost like stealing someone else's work.
Fuck old memes, fuck new memes, fuck random jokes, and fuck the disastrous community that 4chan + youtube has created.
